Description

Six-armed Mahakala is a Dharmapala of Buddhism and the incarnation of Avalokitesvara. He has a dark blue body with one face, six arms and three red and glaring eyes. Raging flames are spurting from all parts of his body, making him look very ferocious. He has a whole elephant skin draped over his shoulders with two of the elephant’s legs on his shoulders and the other two on his legs. The upper right-hand holds the foot of the elephant and the upper left hand a trident.

The middle right-hand holds a drum made from a skull and the middle left hand a rope. The lower two hands hold a bowl and a short crooked sword. Around his neck are green snakes and necklaces, and around his ankles and wrists are white snakes, symbolizing that he is able to vanquish the Dragon King and all monsters. He wears a skirt made of tiger skin with many human heads on it.

He rides on a white elephant lying on its back, with his left leg stretched out and the right leg crooked. The elephant holds a bowl with his left hand and a big radish with his right hand. It is said that this elephant is the king of elephants and ferocious Kubera as well. He was finally vanquished by Mahakala.

In cultivating the Dharma of Six-armed Mahakala, he will be able to reuse or subdue those who are degenerating in the period of degeneration and extinction of the Buddhadharma, protect all beings from sufferings, deliver them from hardships and poverty and help them fulfill their wishes.
