Vidyadhari, Akash Yogini Statue

Description

Vidyadhari Statue is made in Nepal by master statue artists. The weight of the statue is 0.16 kg and the size is 10 x 4 x 6cm.

The material used to make this statue is Copper Gold Plated. Vidyadhari, or ‘Knowledge Holder,’ is one of Vajrayogini’s four main aspects in the Newar Buddhist tradition where she is known as Bijeshwori Devi or Akash-yogini who is the goddess Vajrayogini’s Sky or Space-going aspect. The Bijeshwori temple in Kathmandu is located on the road to Swayambhu above the western bank of the Bishnumati River, and its Newar name is Vidhyeshvari, which means “Wisdom Goddess.”

The presiding goddess of this temple is known as Maitri-Dakin because she is related to the Indian Mahasiddha Maitripa, who cultivated and realized the flying element of Vajrayogini at this location.
