Description
Akash Bhairav Buddhist Statue is made in Nepal by statue artists. A Hindu deity named Akash Bhairav is known as the “god of the sky”. He has several large temples dedicated to him in Kathmandu.
The head of the Aakash Bhairav was discovered in Kathmandu several hundred years ago. The head is now kept in a Hindu temple near Durbar Square in Kathmandu, where it is taken out once a year to be blessed by the Kumari, the living goddess who lives in the nearby Kumari Chowk.
In the common Kathmandu myth, he is the god who will always fight for the weak or the losing side. He is also known as King Yalamber of Kirat, Aju dya for Newars, Barbarik, grandson of Bhimsen.
