This gong has a very beautiful sound and comes with the mallet. The Chao Gong is traditionally made with electrolytic copper and tin.
It is almost flat, except on the outer edge, curved inward creating a kind of cylinder. The surface of the Gong is slightly concave.
The center of the Gong and the edge remain covered with the black layer of copper oxide that forms during the manufacture of the instrument. The rest of the Gong is however polite to remove this layer and refine the sound.
Made of hammered bronze hand-made by a Patan factory typical chao gong edge polished zone around the center to produce a target-shaped design – refining the sound to produce super sound wash and crash, while maintaining a strong strong fundamental tone.
