Jhymata – Traditional Musical Instrument is a traditional musical instrument that resembles a cymbal. Jhyamta with dhol is used by the Kirati community in Nepal during numerous cultural festivals such as Sakala, Chyabrung, Udhauli, Ubhauli, and other social functions.
Jhyamta belongs to the Panche Baja musical family and is loud but rhythmic to the ears. Rubbing the plates with the right hand rising and the left-hand lowering, colliding the two plates, is the proper technique to play. Bhushan is another name for Jhyamta.
