Iconography of Manjushri
Manjushri is the Bodhisattva of wisdom and enlightenment, wielding a flaming sword in his left hand to symbolize his knowledge and capacity to eliminate ignorance and false beliefs.
His right hand holds a stem with the Book of Perfection of Transcendental Wisdom on top. He is usually depicted either seated on a lion or perched atop a lotus flower. He is seen as the embodiment of the Buddha’s teachings and is connected to prajna (transcendental wisdom).
