In Hindu mythology, Indra is the King of the Devas and the Lord of Heaven. He is the God of War, Storms, and Rainfall, among other things.
Indra is one of Rigveda’s most important gods. He is revered as a demiurge who raises the sky, frees morning (Ushas) from the Vala cave, and slays Vitra all of which are crucial to the Soma sacrifice. On the other hand, he, like Zeus engages in a kind of mischief for which he is occasionally punished.
