In Mahayana Buddhism, Prajnaparamita means “Perfection of Transcendent Wisdom.” This perfected manner of viewing the nature of reality as well as a specific body of sutras and the embodiment of the notion in the Bodhisattva known as the “Great Mother,” is referred to as Prajnaparamita.

The Sanskrit terms prajna “knowledge” and paramita “perfection” are combined in the word Prajnaparamita. Prajnaparamita is a major idea in Mahayana Buddhism and it is most commonly associated with the notion of emptiness (Shunyata) or ‘absence of Svabhava’ (essence). Its study and practice are considered to be crucial aspect of the Bodhisattva’s path.
