Iconography of Yellow Jambhala

Jambhala is highly respected as a deity of wealth and abundance. He is seen as a representation of Buddha Ratnasambhava and is believed to have the power to end poverty in all six realms, as well as enhance longevity, wisdom, and morality. Vaisravana is worshiped in Buddhism as a powerful and benevolent protector of justice. He is said to reside in the northern part of the Four Heavens, atop Mount Sumeru in a crystal palace. Yellow Jambhala is regarded as an exceptionally wise being due to his devotion to the Buddhas, which has granted him much knowledge. He is usually depicted with a yellow body, in the vajra position with one leg outstretched and the other bent, holding a mongoose named Nehulay that spews jewels from its mouth, and a gem-shaped fruit and lotus leaf in his right hand.

In Tibetan Tantric art, Lord Vaisravana is often portrayed with a mongoose instead of the traditional precious pagoda. Additionally, Yellow Jambhala is usually shown seated on a lotus, sun disk, and moon disk.

Mantra of Yellow Jambhala

The mantra of Yellow Jambhala is Om Jambhala Jalendraye Svaha.
