Description
Medicine Buddha thangka is available in printed version in 4 different sizes. It is printed on high quality canvas and prefect for practitioners.
The Mahayana tradition holds the Buddha of Medicine in high regard, with his primary vow as a bodhisattva being to free all sentient beings from their illnesses.
The Tibetan Kangyur includes three sutras dedicated to the Buddha of Medicine, which detail his twelve aspirations and those of the other seven buddhas of medicine, as well as the mantras associated with them.
He is also the focus of the Four Medical Tantras, which are the foundation of Tibetan medicine, and many healing rituals.
When the Buddha of Medicine is invoked in healing rituals, his form is determined by the twelve aspirations he made when he first generated bodhichitta.
These aspirations are focused on relieving physical and mental suffering, particularly illnesses caused by imbalances of the elements.
