Sramaneri Palmo, born in 1910 in Derbyshire, England to a religious Christian family, went to Oxford University and gained a master’s degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
During her time at university, she enjoyed engaging in profound solitary reflection to seek after life’s most profound truths.
She was convinced that liberation could not be accomplished simply by depending on an external divine power for salvation.
She eventually traveled to Hong Kong from Sikkim to take part in the ordination ceremony organized by the Buddhist Sangha Association, where Freda Bedi would receive full ordination.
