About Concentration

Concentration, as understood in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and yogic schools, refers to the state of meditative consciousness known as Samādhi. It is cultivated through various meditation methods and is crucial for spiritual liberation, such as nirvana or moksha. In Buddhist traditions, it represents the culmination of the Noble Eightfold Path, while in Ashtanga Yoga, it is the final limb according to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Concentration entails developing an investigative and luminous mind that is equanimous and mindful, leading to meditative absorption or trance, as described in yogic and Buddhist commentarial traditions.
