About Vimalakirti

Vimalakīrti is the central figure in the Vimalakirti Sutra, which presents him as the ideal Mahayana Buddhist upāsaka and a contemporary of Gautama Buddha. There is no mention of him in Buddhist texts until after Nāgārjuna revived Mahayana Buddhism in India.
