About Wang Mengxiao

Mengxiao Wang serves as an assistant professor within the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Southern California. She earned her Ph.D. in Chinese literature from Yale University in 2019 and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Buddhist Studies at UC Berkeley from 2019 to 2021. Her research focuses on various areas, including traditional Chinese theater, print culture, Buddhism, and the intersection of literature and religion during the Ming-Qing periods. At present, she is actively engaged in her book project, tentatively titled "Performing Enlightenment: How Buddhists Reimagined Theater in Early Modern China."
