Advancing Buddhology and Tibetology at Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary
The Budapest Centre for Buddhist Studies (BCBS), established in 2013, has deep historical ties with Tibet and aims to advance Buddhology and Tibetology at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE).
The BCBS, supported by the Khyentse Foundation, has achieved significant milestones, including the launch of educational programs such as minors in Buddhism and Tibetan, a BA in Tibetan, an MA in Buddhist Studies, and a PhD in Buddhist Philology.
The programs have gained positive reception, with a growing number of students for various courses, lectures, and conferences, contributing to the field of Buddhist studies.
The Hungarian Tripitaka Project, the second key objective, seeks to translate essential Buddhist texts into Hungarian, with dedicated efforts from scholars.
The success of ELTE and the BCBS underscores the impact of collaboration, dedication, and the pursuit of knowledge, with gratitude extended to supporters and donors, including the Khyentse Foundation.
