BDRC Remembers Tulku Thondup Rinpoche
The Buddhist Digital Resource Center (previously known as the Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center) is saddened by the loss of Tulku Thondup Rinpoche.
Thondup was an esteemed teacher who dedicated his life to safeguarding and spreading the genuine teachings of Buddhism, both through his own personal realization and through the scriptures.
His ability to transmit the realized teachings was extraordinary and can only be truly understood by those who shared his level of attainment.
Additionally, Thondup’s significant contributions to preserving and sharing the scriptural teachings have had a positive impact on millions of people in Tibet and around the world.
He not only possessed great writing and translating skills, but he also played a crucial role in preserving the scriptural Dharma during these difficult times by providing continuous support to BDRC.
Thondup became a founding board member of BDRC in 1999 and served as a director for almost two decades, offering valuable guidance.
His expansive and forward-thinking vision for safeguarding the Dharma and Tibetan literature greatly influenced the development of BDRC, which has now become the largest digital library of Tibetan Buddhist texts globally, making them accessible to all free of charge.
He continued to serve on BDRC’s board of directors for an additional seven years, ensuring its continued existence after the departure of its founder.
