Fresh and Young: An Interview with Kaz Tanahashi
On September 6, a gathering of Kazuaki Tanahashi’s friends and family came together to celebrate his upcoming 90th birthday at Green Gulch Farm. The Buddhist scholar, artist, and activist will be turning ninety on October 4.
“My personal feeling about being ninety years old is that it’s important that all of us feel fresh and young. When we feel fresh and young we are fresh and young. We can be young until we die of old age. I’d like everyone to continue to be fresh and young.”
Kaz is writing a book called De-age, the Art of Feeling Fresh and Young, which looks at the idea that we can both age and rejuvenate simultaneously.
According to Kaz, this can be accomplished by simply getting a good night’s sleep or engaging in something that brings us joy.
