International Conference on Malaysian Buddhism
The 8th International Conference on Malaysian Buddhism, organized by the Buddhist Research Society of Malaysia (BRSM), is set to take place at Bodhi Park in Shah Alam, Selangor, on December 3, 2023 (Sunday).
Collaborating entities for this event include the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) and the Yayasan Belia Buddhist Malaysia (YBBM), with the support of Tunku Abdul Rahman University (UTAR).
The Opening Ceremony will be graced by the presence of UTAR President Ir Prof Dato’ Dr Ewe Hong Tat as the Honoured Guest, while the keynote address, titled “Open a New Realm for Dharma Propagation,” will be delivered by Dato Ir. Ang Choo Hong.
Notable speakers for specific topics include Dr Wong Sien Biang on “How to Strengthen Children’s Buddhist Education” and Lim Gui Feng on “AI in Dharma Propagation.”
The primary objective of the International Conference on Buddhism is to establish a platform, both locally and internationally, for researchers specializing in Malaysian Buddhism from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
This platform encourages the publication of papers to enhance the culture of Buddhist research in Malaysia, fostering exchanges, interactions, and collaborations among Malaysian Buddhist researchers.
Such efforts aim to elevate Malaysian Buddhist research onto the global stage. Previous conferences have witnessed enthusiastic contributions from local and foreign researchers, delving into various aspects of Malaysian Buddhism, including its history and development.
The conference encompasses a broad spectrum of topics, and registration is open to both Malaysian and international scholars.
Papers will explore themes such as literature and Buddhism, contemporary social issues, Buddhist figures and monasteries, as well as online videos, the promotion of Buddhist hymns, Buddhist innovation, ethics, and other matters of public concern.
