About Ato Rinpoche

Ato Rinpoche, also known as Atro Rinpoche Karma Shenphen (born 1933), is a Rinpoche of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Exiled in India, he served as a deputy in the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, married, and settled in England where he teaches both Mahamudra and Maha Ati. Recognized by the 11th Tai Situ Rinpoche as the 8th Tenzin Tulku of Nezang, he studied under various prominent teachers and completed his studies in India. He later worked as a nurse before dedicating himself to teaching Buddhism and meditation in the West and rebuilding Nezang Monastery in Tibet.
