About Ayya Santacitta Bhikkhuni

Venerable Santacitta Bhikkhuni began her meditation journey in the South Thailand forests under the guidance of Ajahn Buddhadasa in 1988. 

She later joined Amaravati Buddhist Monastery near London in 1992, studying the Ajahn Chah lineage for 17 years. 

In 2002, she encountered Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, a Dzogchen teacher, adding Tibetan elements to her practice. In 2008, she co-founded Aloka Vihara in San Francisco and took full ordination in 2011. 

She finds inspiration in Analayo Bhikkhu's Early Buddhism teachings.

 Since early 2023, she resides at the Aloka Earth Room in San Rafael, combining Dharma, ecology, and art.
