About Bhikshuni Jendy Shih

Jendy Shih, born in Taiwan, became a Bhikshuni in 1983 at Luminary Temple and holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Washington (1987). 

A key supporter of Sravasti Abbey, she played a crucial role in recruiting senior nuns and monks for ordination. Currently residing at Chi Yuan Temple in Kirkland, WA, she edits Buddhist teachings from Chinese and Tibetan traditions into books and teaches the Dharma to the local community. 

Jendy has translated works such as "Choosing Simplicity: A Commentary on the Bhikshuni Pratimoksha" by her teacher, Venerable Bhikshuni Wu Yin, edited by Venerable Thubten Chodron.
