About Geshe Sonam

Geshe Ngawang Sonam is a distinguished Tibetan Buddhist scholar and translator based in India. After joining Sera Monastic University in 1995, he dedicated himself to rigorous study and practice. Selected as one of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's English translators in 2008, he has traveled extensively worldwide. Awarded the prestigious Geshe Lharampa degree in 2019, equivalent to a PhD in Buddhism, Geshe Sonam has authored books and translated classical Buddhist texts.
