About Hagiography

A hagiography is a written account of the life and deeds of a saint, religious leader, or revered figure in various faith traditions.

These biographies often include descriptions of miracles, martyrdom, or other extraordinary events associated with the individual.

While Christian hagiographies primarily focus on figures recognized by specific branches of Christianity, other religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Islam, Sikhism, and Jainism also have similar texts dedicated to their revered figures.

Hagiographies from the Middle Ages may also contain historical information about institutions, local customs, and popular beliefs.
