About Juhn Ahn
Juhn Ahn is an Associate Professor of Buddhist and Korean Studies with a Ph.D. from the University of California Berkeley.
He challenges traditional views in his book "Buddhas and Ancestors," suggesting that shifts in fourteenth-century Korean mortuary customs and elite identity were due to the separation of religion and wealth.
He has also organized a conference and published "Transgression in Korea," which redefines our understanding of transgression and authority.
His current projects include a book on the history of reading habits in Song dynasty Chan Buddhism and research on the economic history of the Koryŏ dynasty. Juhn Ahn's work greatly enriches our knowledge of Buddhism and Korean history.
