About Maya Stiller

Maya Stiller is an Associate Professor specializing in Korean art history and visual culture. She is also the Director of Undergraduate Studies within the Art History Department at the University of Kansas. Currently, she holds the position of Chair for the Committee on Korean Studies at the Association for Asian Studies. Prior to her role at the University of Kansas, Prof. Stiller has taught at Harvard University, Kyushu National University, Freie Universität Berlin, and the University of Vienna. She pursued a dual major in Korean Studies and Art History, spending several years studying and residing in Korea and Japan. Subsequently, she earned a doctorate in East Asian Art history from Freie Universität Berlin and completed a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies from UCLA in 2014.
