About Obsessive-compulsive disorder

Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental condition marked by intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) aimed at alleviating associated distress. Obsessions entail persistent, unwanted thoughts inducing anxiety, like fear of contamination or harm. Compulsions are ritualistic acts to reduce anxiety, such as excessive cleaning or checking. While sufferers may recognize their actions as irrational, they feel compelled to perform them. OCD's etiology involves neuroanatomical factors and genetic predispositions. Treatments include therapy, medication, and surgical interventions for severe cases.
