About Thubten Dekyi

Venerable Thubten Dekyi, originally from Olympia, WA, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management and Wildlife Ecology from Washington State University. She worked across the Northwest conducting stream, plant, and wildlife surveys, alongside her passion for skiing. Introduced to Buddhism at 16, her journey deepened in 2006 upon meeting Venerable Thubten Chodron. Inspired, she eventually joined Sravasti Abbey in 2019. Ven. Dekyi received novice ordination in 2020 and bhikshuni ordination in Taiwan in 2024. At the Abbey, she combines her ecological expertise with monastic service.
