About Thubten Samten

Venerable Samten's spiritual journey began in 1996 when she encountered Venerable Chodron, sparking a profound interest in the Dharma. Four retreats with Venerable Chodron and extensive studies in India and Nepal deepened her commitment to the path. Ordained in 2010 and fully ordained in 2012, she became Sravasti Abbey's sixth bhikshuni. Prior to her ordination, she pursued a Bachelor of Music and trained as a corporeal mime artist. She later obtained a Bachelor of Education degree and taught music for the Edmonton Public School board while also performing with Kita No Taiko, Alberta's first Japanese drum group. Currently, she contributes to Sravasti Abbey by thanking donors, facilitating online courses, assisting with projects, managing the database, and capturing memorable moments through photography.
