Description
Dolma Karpo is often referred to as the Female Buddha and is venerated as the goddess of compassion and healing in Tibetan Buddhism.
She is usually depicted in a seated lotus position, with her left hand holding a blue lotus flower and her right hand raised to her knee in a gesture of compassion.

Additionally, she has seven eyes which symbolize her ability to perceive human suffering, and her name Tara meaning “the one who saves” reflects her power to alleviate people from distress.
Tara is widely revered in all Buddhist traditions for her promise to take the form of a female bodhisattva and Goddess for the benefit of all living beings.
Her white form is especially revered for its ability to grant longevity, and it is customary to give a newborn baby a thangka painting of White Tara as a blessing for a long life.
