Nagarjuna was a Mahyna Buddhist thinker, scholar-saint, and philosopher who lived in India. He is usually regarded as one of the most influential Buddhist thinkers. He is also “one of the finest philosophers in the history of Asian philosophy,” according to Jan Westerhoff.
Nagarjuna is usually regarded as the creator of the Madhyamaka school of Buddhist philosophy, as well as a supporter of the Mahina movement. The most important text on the Madhyamaka doctrine of emptiness is his Mulamadhyamakakarika.
