Drubgyud Tenzin Rinpoche – Renowned scholar and Buddhist teacher
Drubgyud Tenzin Rinpoche is a renowned scholar and Buddhist teacher, having been identified as the reincarnation of Lama Sonam Zangpo, the maternal grandfather of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche (Khyentse Norbu). He was educated in Nepal, Darjeeling, Bir, and Varanasi (all in India) before taking on the responsibility of Chökyi Gyatso Institute in Dewathang, Bhutan. This institute provides a comprehensive education in Buddhist philosophy to over 180 monks.
In 2017, Khyentse Rinpoche appointed Drubgyud Tenzin Rinpoche to the board of directors of the Khyentse Foundation. After completing a three-year traditional retreat last year, he is now teaching and providing support to the sangha worldwide at the request of Khyentse Rinpoche. Additionally, he serves as an advisor to Middle Way Education (MWE). He resides with his family in Canada.
Khyentse Rinpoche has frequently emphasized the significance of monasteries and shedras. These places have been essential in the past, and they remain so today. It is vital that these establishments keep educating monks, tulkus, and lamas to become Buddhist teachers for as long as possible.
