Tep Vong was a revered senior monk who played a pivotal role in revitalizing Cambodia’s Buddhist community.
In 2006, Tep Vong was bestowed with the esteemed title of the Great Supreme Patriarch, consolidating his position as the religious leader of both the Mahanikay and Dhammayut orders of Theravada Buddhism in Cambodia.
With approximately 97% of Cambodia’s population adhering to Buddhism, Tep Vong’s leadership was instrumental in guiding the spiritual and cultural restoration of the nation.
His legacy as a unifying figure and advocate for the Buddhist community will be remembered fondly by Cambodians and followers of Theravada Buddhism worldwide.
