John Bramble, my former tutor, has passed away at the age of 78.
He was part of a group of Latinists who, in the decades between the 1960s and 80s, employed innovative critical techniques to invigorate the investigation of classical Latin works.
John was born in Salford to Clifton Bramble, who worked as a financial manager for Manchester Corporation’s transport section, and Louisa (nee Murray), an executive with the Co-operative wholesale society.
