Khyentse Foundation unveiled its 2023 Annual Report
On May 18, 2024, Khyentse Foundation (KF) unveiled its 2023 Annual Report, delving into the future of Buddhism and significant leadership transitions.
Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche’s insights on the rising identity crisis and the role of religion in it were highlighted, emphasizing the need for Buddhism to address these challenges.
Khyentse Norbu stressed the importance of understanding the Heart Sutra’s message of no identity to combat the escalating identity crisis, fueled by religion and often exploited by politicians and nations.
Reflecting on KF’s evolution, former executive director Cangioli Che emphasized the foundation’s contribution to sharing the Buddha’s wisdom.
Despite economic uncertainties, KF’s initiatives in sponsoring monastic colleges, preserving texts, and promoting Buddhist education have made substantial progress.
Che expressed optimism for KF’s continued growth in spreading the dharma.
Rinpoche’s observations on migration and the need for Buddhist support for immigrant communities were echoed in Che’s reflections.
She discussed the influx of Bhutanese and Himalayan people into places like New York and the potential role of KF in establishing Sunday schools to preserve their Buddhist identity.
Che also highlighted Taiwan’s waning Buddhist influence and proposed KF’s assistance in revitalizing Buddhist practices there.
The annual report portrays KF’s commitment to adapting to changing demographics and addressing contemporary challenges while remaining true to its mission of spreading the Buddha’s teachings.
With new leadership and continued support, KF is poised to navigate the complexities of the modern world and contribute significantly to the preservation and propagation of Buddhism.
