Preserving India’s rich Buddhist heritage

The Indian Minister of Minority Affairs and Women & Child Development, Irani, virtually laid the foundation stone for 38 projects under the Development Plan (BDP) across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, , and Ladakh.

These initiatives, part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), reflect the government’s commitment to “development with heritage” and “heritage promotion.”

Smriti Irani announced the strengthening the Centre for Advanced Studies in Buddhist Studies at the University of Delhi, emphasizing academic collaboration, research, language preservation, and skill enhancement for the Buddhist community.

The event, attended by dignitaries including Chief Ministers and Union Ministers, underscores the government’s holistic approach toward minority development, particularly in border regions.

The BDP integrates ongoing schemes to provide modern education, vocational training, and awareness campaigns, ensuring accessibility for Buddhist communities.
