Remembering Sim Hong Boon architect of the Maitreya Project in Singapore
Sim Hong Boon was a devoted member of the FPMT Inc. Board of Directors and made considerable contributions to the Maitreya Project. Hup Cheng, Director of Amitabha Buddhist Centre in Singapore, which was founded in 1989, attests to Mr. Sim’s unwavering support.
Mr. Sim Hong Boon has been a great asset to the Amitabha Buddhist Centre, taking on the task of constructing the new building at 44 Lorong 25A, Geylang.
As an architect, he drew up the plans for the building, submitted them for approval, and put the construction out to tender.
In 2005, Rinpoche appointed Mr. Sim to serve on ABC’s Board of Trustees, which is responsible for maintaining the center’s assets.
In 2018, he once again showed his commitment by offering to construct an extra wing for the childcare center, allowing it to accommodate more pre-school children.
Mr. Sim has been a major contributor to ABC’s success over the past 35 years, and his efforts have been invaluable.
Without him, the center would not have achieved so much.
Although he will be greatly missed, his legacy will live on, benefiting future generations.
