Tergar Charity Nepal is Awarded the UNDP Equator Prize 2023
Mingyur Rinpoche’s non-profit organization, Tergar Charity Nepal, which operates in the Nubri valley in the isolated northern border area near Tibet, was given the 2023 Equator Prize.
The Equator Prize, which is awarded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) every two years, acknowledges and celebrates local and indigenous groups who have made significant contributions to reducing poverty through the preservation and responsible utilization of biodiversity.
It is a way of recognizing these communities for their achievements and highlighting them on an international platform as they work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mingyur Rinpoche will be delivering a speech at the virtual award ceremony taking place in Dubai in the days prior to COP-28 (mid-October).
