About Thubten Pende

Venerable Thubten Pende, a Bhikshuni, was born in Hue, Vietnam, in 1963. Her aspirations to study in the U.S. were thwarted by political upheavals. Despite facing obstacles, she reunited with her family in the U.S. and pursued higher education, graduating with dual degrees in Mathematics and Statistics. Dissatisfied with her career, she turned to Buddhism, finding solace in its teachings. Ordained in 2014, she trained in California and Vietnam, later joining a monastic community where she deepened her practice and received full ordination in Taiwan in 2017.
