On December 16, 2023, at Khachoe Ghakyil Ling (Kopan Nunnery) it was the eighth year in a row that a large thangka of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, was displayed.
The stunning thangka, measuring 75 feet (23 meters) in height and 87 feet (27 meters) in width, showcases the Padmasambhava merit field at its core through the use of stitched appliqué.
Alongside this display, a special ceremony called Guru Bumtsog, involving an auspicious offering of 100,000 tsog, was conducted.
The event was attended by esteemed individuals such as Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Khenrinpoche Geshe Chonyi, Thame monks, other Sangha members, Kopan monks and nuns, as well as local lay people.
During the ceremony, prayers were offered for the well-being of all beings, the swift return of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the fulfillment of his holy wishes, and global peace.
