This mandala features the most famous Eight Auspicious Symbols of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism known as Ashtamangala with golden mantras and red background around it.
The Ashtamangalas are considered sacred objects and have been used as icons to preserve ancient esoteric knowledge and still used today during rituals and as a teaching aid for Buddhist practitioners.
Because of the diffusion of Buddhism in several regions of Asia, these symbols influenced the art of many cultures, including traditional Indian and Chinese art.
The 8 Auspicious Symbols used in this Chenrezig Mantra Mandala are:
- The Parasol
- Two Golden Fish
- The Conch Shell
- The Lotus
- The Victory Banner
- The Vase
- The Dharma Wheel
- The Eternal Knot
