Kalachakra is a Sanskrit term that translates to “Time wheel.” The Kalachakra Mandala is a large palace with five distinct levels. Every detail of the mandala, from each deity to every building adornment, alludes to time and the universe (Outer Kalachakra) or physical and mental aspects (Inner Kalachakra) as well as the practice.
