The 2023 Parliament of the World’s Religions began on Monday, with around 6,500 spiritual and religious leaders gathering in Chicago, the home of the parliament’s headquarters. This year’s event, which will take place from August 14th to 18th, is centered around the theme “A Call to Conscience: Defending Freedom & Human Rights.”
The five-day interfaith gathering will unite representatives from over 80 nations and 200 spiritual backgrounds, including Baha’i, Zoroastrianism, and more. Plenary sessions, workshops, and panels will discuss pressing issues such as climate change, human rights, food security, racism, and women’s rights, while emphasizing the need to combat the growing trend of authoritarianism worldwide.
