65th Ramon Magsaysay Awards ceremony in Manila
At the 65th Ramon Magsaysay Awards ceremony in Manila on 11 November, often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Asia,” four individuals were recognized for their exemplary leadership and social contributions.
The keynote speech was given by renowned Korean Dharma master and Buddhist activist Venerable Pomnyun Sunim.
During his keynote speech on Saturday, Ven. Pomnyun Sunim, who was honored with the 2002 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Peace and International Understanding for his efforts to lessen the suffering caused by the split of North and South Korea and to promote reconciliation and reunification of the Korean Peninsula, expressed his admiration and congratulations to this year’s four awardees and shared his profound thoughts on how everyday people can create a peaceful and unified world.
