Commemorating Ju Mipham and Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche
We are commemorating the parinirvana anniversaries of two eminent Tibetan Buddhist masters: Ju Mipham Rinpoche (1846-1913) and Geshe Lharampa 9th Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche (passed June 2, 2023).
Ju Mipham, a prolific Nyingma scholar, and Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, a revered teacher, significantly contributed to the dissemination of Buddhist philosophical tenets.
Ju Mipham Rinpoche’s seminal work, Gateway of Knowledge, provides a comprehensive condensation of the Tripitaka and its commentaries, presenting core principles of Prajnaparamita, Madhyamika, and Abhidharma from both Mahayana and Hinayana perspectives.
The passage explains various Tibetan Buddhist belief systems, leading to the Zhentong perspective, which is considered a deep philosophical position.
In 2009, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche delivered a series of teachings in the USA on Mipham’s Gateway of Knowledge, using Khenpo Gangshar’s commentary, The Magic Key.
Thrangu Rinpoche emphasized the indivisibility of the dharma expanse and awareness, illustrating the clear aspect of the mind.
A Thrangu Rinpoche’s nine-session seminar not only honors the legacy of these great masters but also serves as a valuable resource for contemporary practitioners seeking deeper understanding of Buddhist philosophy and the ultimate view of emptiness.
