The formal commencement of the India International Centre for Buddhist Culture and Heritage (IICBCH) at Lumbini in Nepal was marked by the Bhoomi Pooja rituals on Sunday.
Monks from various Buddhist countries gathered at the Lumbini Monastic Zone, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, to perform the ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ in honor of the Light of Asia.
During his visit to Lumbini in 2022 alongside the Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Narendra Modi laid the groundwork for the building of a Buddhist Centre by laying the foundation stone.
The initiation of the construction of the cutting-edge, carbon-neutral building began on Sunday one year later.
