Inauguration of the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies in Sri Lanka
The University of Kelaniya’s Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies celebrated the inauguration of its new building on with Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wickremesinghe in attendance.
Alongside esteemed guests such as ministers and ambassadors, President Wickremesinghe emphasized the significance of nurturing an enlightened society for economic strength.
He also recognized Prof. K.L. Dhammajoti, a founding teacher, for his invaluable contributions.
The president underscored Sri Lanka’s role in advancing Theravada Buddhism and announced plans for a global research institute dedicated to its promotion.
Reflecting on the Institute’s history since its establishment in 1975, Dhammajoti praised its evolution and commended its faculty for elevating Buddhist education to international standards.
With offerings ranging from postgraduate programs to online courses, the Institute continues to attract students worldwide, fostering academic excellence and the dissemination of Buddhist teachings.
