The Angels of Summer
Sister Bồ Đề reflects on the challenges and joys of the previous summer’s children’s program at the European Institute of Applied Buddhism (EIAB) in Germany.
Gazing at the two golden, red leaves for the final time, Sister Bồ Đề delicately placed them into an envelope, her heart filled with fondness. A gentle smile graced her face as a memory resurfaced – the innocent words she had received on a fine morning, “Today is the first day I go to school. My school is in Bilthoven. I cycled 2.5 kilometers to school in the morning and back in the afternoon…” This recollection holds a special place among her cherished moments from the children’s program at EIAB in Germany last summer.
With most of the young German and Dutch children having limited proficiency in English, the language barriers often led to a mix of tears and laughter, creating a tapestry of emotions that characterized the experience.
