They moved to a Buddhist retreat in rural America. Have they found happiness?

Ani Wangmo and I were being tailgated as we drove a white pickup truck along a narrow, cliffside road in the Ozarks.

The man behind us was driving a mid-size silver Pontiac, and the danger of hitting deer or armadillo was real.

If we had to stop suddenly, there would be no place for the Pontiac to swerve and it could crash into us, the oncoming lane, or off the cliff.

We were on our way to Parthenon, Arkansas, to the Katog Rit’hröd center, where practitioners are in a three-year retreat to practice and .

Twice a month, Wangmo and I make the six-hour grocery run for these practitioners, who are unable to go into town themselves.
