Tribute to Lise Lotte Brooks – A Buddhist Pioneer
Lise Lotte Brooks, a stalwart of the Buddhist community, passed away on May 29, 2024, at the age of 77, in Denmark.
Co-founder of the Center for Wisdom and Compassion (CVM) in 1996 with Maria Damsholt, Lotte’s life journey was marked by deep spiritual devotion and profound contributions to the dissemination of Buddhist teachings.
Born in Copenhagen in 1946, her early years were fraught with challenges, yet her compassionate nature and spiritual curiosity led her to Nepal, where she embraced Buddhism under the tutelage of esteemed masters Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
Despite personal trials, Lotte’s commitment to her spiritual path remained unwavering, evident in her entrepreneurial endeavors and pivotal role in establishing FPMT centers in Denmark.
Her legacy extends beyond organizational achievements, resonating in the lives she touched with her kindness, resilience, and profound wisdom.
Lotte’s passing leaves a void in the spiritual community, but her teachings and compassionate spirit continue to inspire and guide countless practitioners on their own journeys towards enlightenment.
