Wutai International and Intensive Program on Buddhist Studies
The Wutai Research Institute for Eastern Buddhist Culture in Shanxi, China, in collaboration with the Great Sage Bamboo Monastery at Mount Wutai, is organizing an intensive program next August.
Hosted by the From the Ground Up project at the University of British Columbia, the program features an international conference accompanied by a field visit.
The program offers twelve lectures and lecture series delivered by esteemed scholars from various international institutions.
Topics range from machine translation in Buddhist studies to the significance of inscriptions in Dunhuang Caves. The conference theme, “Canonical, Non-Canonical and Extra-canonical: Interdisciplinary and Multi-media Studies of the Formation, Translation and Transmission of Buddhist Texts,” will gather 30-35 scholars worldwide.
Student participants, exempt from tuition fees and provided with accommodation and meals, can present papers at the conference and may receive travel subsidies.
